HISTORY

The Prospector Pub was first licensed in the 1890s and is considered by many the oldest hotel/pub in British Columbia.  The town of Rock Creek was renowned for its gold placer deposits, which were initially discovered by Adam Beam in 1859.  The area around Rock Creek was extensively worked by up to 500 miners from 1860-1864.  Rock Creek was worked again in the 1890s and 1930s.  It was mined by both Europeans and Chinese.  It was a rich creek for miles of its length.  Hence, the appropriate naming of the town’s only pub.
