Description
Description
This off-grid oasis is the perfect destination for any outdoor enthusiast. Far removed from any cities, or busy neighbourhoods, this property is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. The elegant log home sits atop the treed driveway and is an inspiring sight with the mountains and endless forest forming the backdrop. The newer 3,000± ft2 residence was custom built and wonderfully designed to evoke a sense of natural beauty in an untouched environment. The road to Germansen Landing provides time to think and reflect. Driving through vast wilderness and being greeted by some of Canada’s most notable wildlife is a treat in and of itself. At times it will be hours before you see the friendly wave from the driver of a passing vehicle. The road is a portal back to a time where BC’s remote lands were relatively untouched, or unexplored.
Situated on over 5 acres of cleared land, and boasting a covered storage area with metal roof, a rustic guest cabin and ample room for gardening or hobby farming the property will keep you coming back for more. The exterior of the cabin is as functional as it is beautiful and was built with the four seasons in mind. The sloped roof and retaining wall behind the front of the cabin was built to ensure snow did not build up and impede access to the main entrance. There is also infrastructure in place for a solar panel to be installed to help reduce your footprint, and to save on fuel.
As you enter the cabin you are greeted with sights and smells to remind you that your holiday from urban life has begun. The open floor plan, and large windows provide ample light as well as views out over the yard. There is ample room for more than 1 cook in the kitchen, and plenty of storage space for additional supplies. The living room is spacious and inviting, with ample space for hosting family and friends. Off the living room is the deck, which faces southwest and is a fantastic space for cooking BBQ or lounging in the sun. The master bedroom is off the living area, and is a dream come true. With numerous windows and lovely views, and a walk-in closet that would be a welcomed addition to any home, it is a wonderful spot to rest your head. Up the stairs to the second floor, you find 4 well-appointed bedrooms, a games room area, interior balcony and a cozy nook where you can gaze out over the surrounding range. The lower level is a handyman/woman’s dream and perfect for storing vehicles/toys. There are 2 overhead doors and a high ceiling allowing for storage upwards as well.
Included with the property is the furniture, décor and tractor for snow clearing/land maintenance.

AREA DATA
Electoral Area C (Fort St James Rural) is the rural area surrounding the District of Fort St James. The unincorporated communities within the area are Germansen Landing, Leo Creek, Takla Landing, and Trembleur. The area is the gateway to a chain of rivers and lakes that traverse 400 kilometres of central British Columbia. The population of the Fort St. James area, including the municipality itself, rural areas and First Nations, is approximately 4,500 people. There is an established forest industry, a growing mining and tourism sector.
Forestry
Timber harvesting and dimensional lumber production are the main drivers of the forest industry. Due to the Mountain Pine Beetle infestation effecting the forests in the region, new opportunities in the bio-energy, biomass, and value-added manufacturing are diversifying the forest industry.
Mining
Well-developed transportation and industrial infrastructure positions the RDBN to support and expand the local mining industry. A well-trained, and experienced, labour force and untapped mineral resources have created a strong environment for mining within the region.
Tourism
There are also several initiatives within the region designed to strengthen and support the local agriculture industry. The low cost of range land and the availability of Provincially Licensed Slaughter Facilities within the region has made livestock production an attractive agricultural option. The local Farmers’ Markets are seeing growing numbers of consumers purchasing fresh produce, which supports the burgeoning small-scale farming industry of the region.

HISTORY
The settlement was a focus of the Omineca Gold Rush of the 1860s. A Hudson Bay Supply post there supplied the miners and trappers. Placer mining continued into the 1930s, when the Depression created a market for gold. The area is remote and required multiple lake and trail journeys to get to from Fort Saint James.
